Maybe this time I’ll stick with it?
Over the years I’ve tried starting a blog a few times. Once I made my own website (which was fun but made me focus more on tech stuff than writing), and once on Substack.
Both times I felt pressure to write when I had nothing to say. It mainly being about games also made me enjoy games less as I was playing them to write reviews instead of enjoying them.
I shared them with my friends as well, which somehow triggered my perfectionism trying to write as well and much as I could.
So here I am, another attempt at starting a blog. But this time, I haven’t told anyone, and I’ll only write when I feel like doing so. The anonymity makes me feel a bit freer to be more personal as well.
I originally wanted to share games and stuff I was excited about. But if in the process I no longer enjoy them, what’s the point?
A few months ago I started 100%’ing achievements of all the games I played. It seemed like a good way to fully appreciate what games had to offer, but it quickly turned into another bad habit that made me enjoy games less.
So here is to a fresh start in 2026, where I try to enjoy the things I love and express that, while trying to be kinder to myself.
